Introducing the newest member of the Lympo family — Guillem Balague.

Guillem is a world-renowned football journalist, pundit, and the author of several award-winning books — “Cristiano Ronaldo, the Biography”, “A Season on the Brink”, and “Brave New World — Inside Pochettino’s Spurs”.

For over 20 years, Guillem has been a key figure in Spanish football coverage. And to honor his extraordinary career Lympo is launching a collection of Guillem Ballague digital sportscards.

Guillem is going to donate all proceeds of this exciting partnership to help support his ‘second family’ Biggleswade United FC. As chairman, Guillem has stated that the proceeds of this partnership will be going towards the continuous progression of Biggleswade United FC, with a key focus being on the development of the community.

Guillem is hoping the partnership will help sustain the club further and provide them with funds and resources to continue their ever-growing developments on and off the pitch.

Guillem Balague started his football punditry career in 1991. After graduating with a journalism degree from Universitat Autònoma de Bellaterra, he moved to Liverpool — the capital of English football and started working as a correspondent for the Diari de Barcelona newspaper, as well as for the magazines Lecturas and Cambio 16.

Working as a sports journalist in Liverpool, Guillem soon made a name for himself. He became an English Football Correspondent for the football magazine Don Balón in 1996, and in 1997, he became a regular insider for the new highlight show on Sky Sports. The show that eventually became Revista de la Liga — a show where Guillem was a Spanish football pundit for over 20 years.

Throughout his career, Guillem Balague has written for many prestigious newspapers including The Telegraph, The Times, The Observer.

His football commentary was printed in many publications in Spain, Britain, and worldwide — Marca, Talk Sport, BBC, Cadena Ser, 442, World Soccer, Champions magazine, and many others.

Guillem is also well known for his work with the Spanish football newspaper AS and Spain’s national radio station COPE.

In 2006, Guillem Balague wrote his first book which became a bestseller. “A Season on the Brink” is an in-depth account of Liverpool’s 2004–05 Champions League-winning campaign. During the 2007–2008 Premier League season, Balague together with Gabriele Marcotti presented The Game podcast, hosted by The Times.

In 2013, Guillem published the very first international biography on Pep Guardiola, which was shortlisted for Football Book of the Year in the UK and Germany. That same year he wrote the only authorized biography of Leo Messi. “Messi” was also shortlisted for the Football Book Award in the UK, and led to Guillem presenting commercial events of Leo Messi.

Guillem Balague also became a UEFA B-licensed coach in the summer of 2013 and was approached by a Spanish coach Antonio Tapia to become a part of his technical staff.

A year later, he became Director of Football for Biggleswade United and is currently the chairman of the club. Also in 2014, he published “Barça” — the Official History of FC Barcelona and the Biography of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2015.

The book won the Football Book of the Year Award at the British Sports Book Awards and became the Best Football Book of 2016 in Poland.

One of Guillem’s most popular books — “Brave New World — Inside Pochettino’s Spurs” was shortlisted for the Football Book of the Year and became a Sunday Times best-selling book, as well as the best-selling football book of 2018. His latest book — “Maradona: The Boy. The Rebel. The God.” focuses on the life and career of Diego Maradona — one of the greatest football legends.

Based on in-depth interviews and first-hand stories, the biography is a detailed psychological and sociological portrait of the football star, describing his struggles with fame.

Currently, Guillem Ballague works as the CBS principal reporter for the CL, hosts a radio show on European football for BBC 5Live, and writes a popular blog for the BBC web page. He also is a columnist for Le Parisien and TV2 in Norway, and the number one pundit on LaLiga TV — the official channel for LaLiga.

Throughout his career, Guillem has built up an extensive social following across various platforms, in particular his Youtube channel and his two podcasts, Pure Football and Puro Fútbol.
