The Lympo family is excited to present our first basketball athlete! Donatas Motiejūnas, the NBA and Euroleague star will have his own collection of NFTs on the Lympo platform.

We’re happy to partner with Donatas Motiejūnas a legendary 30-year-old basketball player from Lithuania with nearly 250k social media followers.

Donatas began his professional career in 2005 when he was only 15 years old. Fast forward a couple of years and when Donatas was a 17-year-old he was already playing for 2 Lithuanian national teams. Together with the teams, he managed to win 2 silver medals in the FIBA Europe Under-18 and Under-20 championships that were held the same summer. Even though he had to compete against older and more experienced opponents that didn’t stop Donatas from being titled one of the top 5 best players in the championship and receiving the MVP title.

This kick-started his career and soon he truly became a force to be reckoned with. In 2011 Motiejūnas recorded a career-high 21 rebounds (18 defensive) against Union Olimpija, this was the most defensive rebounds in a EuroLeague game since the 2000–01 season. In 2012 Donatas became a Polish League Champion and it didn’t take long after that to get drafted by the Houston Rockets, who play in the NBA.

Over his career so far Donatas has played 6 seasons in the NBA, representing such well-known teams as New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs. However, NBA isn’t the only high-tier basketball league where Donatas showcased his talent. He spent 4 seasons playing in the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association) starring in the Shanghai Sharks and Xinjiang Flying Tigers teams, where he quickly became one of the biggest stars in the league.

Showing extraordinary talent, dedication and love for basketball since his childhood Donatas Motiejūnas has definitely solidified himself as a basketball legend. Now, Donatas is going back to his roots and after almost 10 years abroad, he’s returning to EuroLeague as part of the AS Monaco Basket club and we’re taking it a step further by forging a digital legacy for Donatas — his very own NFT collection powered by Lympo.
